STAFF CHANGES. NEW OFFICES CREATED. (Special to Bails Times.) WELLINGTON, January 26. A number of further changes in the first division staff of the Railways Department, arising out of the recommendations of the commission which made investigaI lions in the service throughout the Dominion, are announced. The new appointments are provisional, and are subject to appeal. In some instances the officers have already taken up the new duties allocated to them. The re-grading which is henceforth to take place every live years involves the creation of some new positions. One of these affects the staff of the Railways Board, and Mr W. R. Miller, formerly stationmastor at Gisborne, lias bec-n appointed to the ncwly-croated office of assistant secretary of tiie Board, the position of secretary having already been filled by the appointment of Mr E. I‘. Moir. Mr G. G. Stewart will continue as officer iu charge of the publicity branch. The position of assistant chief accountant, formcily a single office, filled by Mr F. K. r’oi'ii'oos, o . in two. Mr Porteous will have charge of the revenue side, and Mr W. Bishop, a new appointee, of the expenditure side ot the accounts. The former chief clerk of the commercial branch in the head office, Mr G. T. Wilson, will henceforth be known as senior business agent and Messrs W. A. Marshall and A. M'Neil as business agents. Separate offices, involving the creation of new positions, have been set up in the control of the traffic branch, and the work previously carried out by assistant district traffic managers is to be divided between indoor assistant district traffic managers and outdoor assistant district traffic managers In the four principal centres the indoor offices are allocated to Messrs B. C. liousley (Auckland), J. W. Reay (Wellington), H. 0. Guinness (Christchurch), and W. F White (Dunedin), and the outdoor positions to Messrs C. E. Fowke (Auckland), J. C. Schneider (Wellington), W. T. Tregnrtha (Christchurch), and A. S. Campbell (Dunedin). There are a number of changes in the position of station master at the larger centres. Hitherto there has been one station master in charge of both Thorndon and Lambton Stations, Mr R. H. Morgan, who is to be transferred in the same capacity to vv’anganui, will be replaced by Mr J C. Duncan as stationmaster at Thorndon, while Mr R. D. Scott will take charge at Lambton as assistant station master. Other station master appointments are : Messrs H. E. Adams (Auckland), J. J. O’Shea (Palmerston North), 11. D. Lowry (Christchurch), A. E. Firman (Frankton Junction), K. J. Chambers (Dunedin), D. J. Donald (Invercargill), H. F. Mirams (New Plymouth) J. Reid (Napier), T. A. Stephens (Lyttelton), J. Fowler (Greymouth), G. Grcig (Timaru), J. Miller (Oamaru), A. Burns (Whangarei), E, J. Guthrie (Taumarunui), R. H. T. Moore (Marlon), J. Sharkey (Hastings), M. Vance (Addington), C. J. M’Eachen (Ashburton), C. L. Pope (Balclutha), and W. J. Smith (Gore). New appointments as assistant stationmasters are as follow: W .Hartley (Auckland), J. Carnachan (Palmerston North), P. J. Bond (Christchurch), and S. C. Doyle (Dunedin). As a result of the experimental adoption of train-control methods between Wellington and Marton and between Christchurch and Oamaru, two new offices of traincontrol officer have been made. These are allocated to Mr W, Schierning and Mr E. S .Brittenden, who are to be stationed at Wellington and at Christchurch respectively. Four new appointments of assistant goods agent have been allocated to Mr 0. J. Moon (Auckland), H. M. Shera (Wellington), A. M. G. Christie (Christchurch), and J. A. Boswell (Dunedin). Mr W. H. Jarman becomes officer in charge of th e new goods branch at Invercargill. Other appointments are :—Senior audit inspector, North Island, Mr P. G. Taylor (Wellington); South Island. Mr J. E. Doolan (Christchurch). Audit inspector: North Island, Mr H. J. Larkin (Auckland). Goods agents: R. S. Skinner (Auckland), E. J. Lezard (Wellington), G. Drummond (Christchurch), and E.
