PALMERSTON NOTES.

PALMERSTON, December 22
Shearing at the big stations has been hindered a great deal by the weather. Last night there was heavy rain throughout the district. To-day has been fine.
Members of the Palmerston Gun Club had a Christmas shoot on Wednesday afternoon. There were 11 competitors, and the trophies were a dressed lamb, cut in quarters, presented by Mr Erie Kelly, and two large Christmas cakes. Two handicap matches of nina and six uirds respectively were Held. The best scores in the nine-bird match were: —J. Roy and G. Roberts, nine birds each; W. Hayward ami F. W. Robinson, .eight each; J. R. Roy, John Gordon, and H. Roberts, seven each; J. Roy, G. Roberts, and F. W. Robinson, after drawing, received the prizes. In the six-bird match the top scorers were; —J. Roy, John Gordon, G. Stone, and F. W. Robinson, with the possible each; and J. R. Roy, G. Roberts, and H. Roberts, with five each. In the fire-off the prizes were won by J. Roy, J. Gordon, and G. Stone.
