NEW BRIGHTON HANDICAP.

ESCAPADE APPEAL DISMISSED, (Peb Unit, j Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, December 21. At a special meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association to-day W. G. Deyell and F. A. Neale, the owners of the mare Escapade, appealed against the New Brighton Club’s decision in dismissing the protest against the conditions imposed by the handicapper in connection with the New Brgihton Handicap on December 17 and also against the moneys being paid out to the placed horses. The appeal was dismissed, but the protest fee was ordered to be refunded owing to the fact that the appeal had been lodged with a view to ventilating the matter and not for the purpose of claiming the stake. The race was for unhoppled trotters, a 4.42 class, with a lOscc limit. It was alleged that the handicapper (Mill. Brinkman) had altered the class of the race, and in so doing Jiad treated Escapade with undue severity.
