HEATHCOTE WILLIAMS SHIELD. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 21. The Heathcote Williams Shield match between the Napier High School (challengers) and the Auckland Grammar School (holders) commenced at Eden Park to-day. Auckland Grammar in its first innings scored 382. A feature of the innings was the fine partnership of L. L. Cashmore and P. E. Whitclaw. In just under two hours they scored 233, and both made centuries, Whitelaw getting 127 and Cashmore 110. The other principal scorers were H. M'Kcan 55, M, M. Fraser 29, F. Stehr 16, M. M’Cormick 14. Napier compiled 182 in its first innings—N. Craig 47, J. Cowan 27, J. Kenny (run out) 34, L. Bradley 21, H. Reaney (not out) 12. B Brown 11. The Auckland bowling and fielding wore excellent.
