VALEDICTORY AT WEST TAIERI.

The Outram Church Hall was filled almost to overflowing on Wednesday evening, when the people of West Taieri met to say good-bye to Dr W. D. Bathgate, *who has been home on furlough for the last six months. Representatives were also present from Allanton, Mosgieh and Green Island. The Rev. David Campbell occupied the chair. In hia opening remarks the chairman made reference to the nature of Dr Bathgate’s work in Nazareth, and in the course of the evening Miss Murray, of the Egyptian General Mission, and the Rev. P. B. Fraser, of Dunedin, who have both been in the Holy Laud, also emphasised the merits a value of such noble and acceptable service. Dr Bathgate, who labours under the auspices of the Edinburgh Medical Mission, has been fortunate in securing the services of Nurse Charles, of Gore, and she will journey with Dr Bathgate on his.return to his sphere of service. Dunne the evening a pleasing programme of vocal and instrumental items wa. rendered by the following:—The Outram Male Choir Mrs Wm. Marshall, Misses E. Wyllie, A. Southgate, B. Bannerman, U. Scott, and Mr Wm. Marshall. The church choir ' Iso rendered an anthem, and Mrs James M’Bryde and Miss B. Harrison acted as accompanists for the evening. Presentations on behalf of the congregation and friends were made to Nurse Charles, Miss Irene Bathgate, and Dr Bathgate. The outgoing missionaries were duly dedicated to the work of the Lord, the ladiet. served a bountiful supper, and the snediction terminated a memorable gathering.
