GERMAN STEAMER ARRIVES.
FIRST FOR MANY YEARS. (Per L’ni-ed Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 3. An interesting arrival at Wellingtoii yesterday was the steamer Karpfauger, with case oil from Port Arthur, Texas. The Karpfauger is the first German vessel to call at Wellington since 1914. and attracted considerable attention at the Queen’s wharf. The ship was flying the German mercantile ensign flag, with the once familiar stripes of black, white, and red. and a small inset at the hoist of tho colours of the German Republic, red, black, and gold. The house flag of her owners, G. J. H. Siemens and Co., of Hamburg, painted on the funnel, is a striking one, consisting of the "man in moon” crescent, conjoined with a half star in white on a gold background. Tho vessel is under the command of Captain Denzin.
