(F*oa Ooe Own Cobrespondknt.) NASEBY, July 16. The weather has lately been unusually mild for winter, though witli one or two sharp frosts at nights. The _ Mount Ida curling dam has been kept available for a few enthusiasts to continue practice in the early morning and late afternoon. Fog was experienced on Tuesday and Wednesday, a somewhat unusual thing here, but during Wednesday night a strong wind, bordering on a gale, cleared the atmosphere. Mr Allan Cain, one of the Naseby first grade football team received an injury when playing at Becks last week, and was conveyed to the Manioloto Hospital suffering from concussion. He is now making good progress in that institution. The weekly euchre tournaments of St. George’s Hall and the bowling club maintain their popularity, each drawing full houses. In the course of evidence against a hotel proprietor, charged with serving liquor after hours, Sergeant o‘Halloran stated that three police officers walked in and the publican invited them to the bar. After serving drinks lie asked if they were tourists. Mr Fraser, for defendant, stated the publican mistook them for tourists, but found they were policemen. The Magistrate: They were tourists evidently as well as policemen.
