MILK ADULTERATION.

RESTAURANT KEEPERS FINED. (Per United Pbes« Association.) WELLINGTON July 16. What was described as the first case of the kind was heard to-day when three restaurant keepers were charged with selling milk not complying with the Sale of Food and Drugs Act. All pleaded guilty. The Inspector stated that he took samples from the tables and the tests showed in one case 32 per cent., and the second 30 per cent, of added water, and the third sugar. The prosecutions were brought under the Amended Act of 1924. Counsel for the defence said the practice was general and the law would bo served by the payment of costs. The restaurants obtained milk from farms, and usually added water and boiled it. Each defendant was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
