AUCKLAND FLOODS.

COUNTRYSIDE ENTIRELY INUNDATED. (Peb United Press Association.) AUCKLAND. May 30. The full effects of the flood are being experienced in the valley running to the north and south of Mercer. From Pokeno as far as a mile north of Mercer township the country on either side of the railway is inundated for a considerable distance. Mercer present a picture of desolation. The railway station is an isthmus, gradually diminishing to an island with the steady rise of the water. Horses are being used to tow motorists through. The water has invaded the yards of the Mercer timber mill and work has been suspended. The water was still rising last night.
