CIVIL SERVANTS’ SALARIES. MILITARY CALLED OUT. .ARRESTS MADE. (Pleas Association— By Telegraph—Copyright.) PARIS, January 17. (Received Jan. 18, at 7.10 p.rn.) Civil servants attempted to demonstrate in the Place do la Concorde, against the salaries received, which they declared were lower than last year. The Government put up the greatest show of force sine© war time, posting cavalry, steel holme ted municipal guards, and police in all the streets leading to the Place de la Concorde. After an unsuccessful attempt th© demonstrators threw snowballs, in which were concealed rocks. Several arrests were made, and this quietened the remainder. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
