SOUTH OTAGO MATCHES. (From Otjb Own Correspondent.} MI ETON, January IS. Previous South Otago records -were eclipsed in the shield match between the Milton A and Milton B teams, which was played on Saturday afternoon. Batting first, thq. B team compiled the moderate total of 53 runs, which score was passed without the loss of a wicket by the A team. The latter scored 478 runs for the losss of nine wickets, when stumps were drawn. A. Gale eclipsed his three previous centurv innings in South Otago cricket this season by scoring 200, when he retired unbeaten. His score quickly mounted up, and included 11 sixes and 24 fours, U. Turnbull was second best batsman lor the A team with 111 (six sixes and 15 fmrr. i. J. Keen also batted confidently for 77. The B team's bowling was completely collared and their fielding was most indifferent, several easy chancer, being dropped. The score of 47S was the highest yet recorded in So ‘ ’"to shield fixtures, and Gale's doubt also establishes a record for scoring. Kaitangatr .. ~ visited Miiburn on Saturday afternoon, and was decisively defeated by the home team. Miiburn batted first, and had scored 136 for two wickets (R. Stewart 52 not out, and J. Kano, sen., 72 not out) when the innings was declared closed. Kaitangata responded with 25 for the. first innings and 60 for the second innings. Miiburn thus won by an innings and 51 runs. SOUTHERN DIVISION MATCHES. In the Southern Division matches Clutha met and defeated Waiwera by 72 runs to 18 on the Balclutha ground. Dow (three for six) and Scolan (six for nine) were very destructive for Clutha. The Freezer team journeyed to Owaka, and an interesting game resulted in a victory for Freezer by 41 runs. Batting first, Owaka compiled 164 runs (Alloo 52, Findlater, sen., 39), to which Freezer responded witii 305 (Algie 104, Lennox 70). OTAGO ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Otago Cricket Association was held last night. Mr J. J. Clark (president) occupied the chair. Mr C. AV. Rattray wrote acknowlegding receipt of a letter asking him to make inquiries regarding a coach for the Otago team while he was in England. He stated that he would be pleased to be of service to the association in this respect. It was reported that Canterbury would solid down a veterans’ team at the end of February. Mr C. M. Corbett, secretary of the Southland Association, wrote asking the association to fix dates for the return match between Otago and Southland, and lor a veterans’ match. —It was decided to play the representative match on February 10 and 11, and the veterans’ match on either of those dates. It was decided to make a donation of £5 5a to the Boys’ Association. High School Old Boys were awarded the Second Grade match against Mornington, the result of which was in dispute. OTAGO v.
