A SENSATIONAL EPISODE.
Pros* Association —By Telegraph Copyright
LONDON, October 19. Following the daylight escape of two prisoners from Fentonville less than a fortnight ago while they were painting the roof of the prison hospital, one of whom is still at large, a sensation was created in London at the news of the daring escape of two ticket-of-leave men {Arthur Bacon and Sidney Marks) from Pentonville. The men occupied adjoining cells on the fourth ' floor, and each possessed a pair of scissors for the purpose of* his work. Apparently they removed part of the brick wall, crawled through the hole, tied sheets to portions of their clothing, and perilously dropped to the ground in the darkness. I ne> then climbed a wall 20ft high and escaped.—Reuter.
