The United States Supreme Court held that California’s criminal Syndicalism law, under which more than 100 men and women are serving sentences in the Californian State prisons, was constitutional, and dismissed the appeal of Miss Charlotte Whitney against her conviction in 1920 and the sentence of 14 years in prison imposed upon her for being a member of and attending meetings of the Communist Labour Party in California. ‘The court declared unconstitutional the Arizona State law fixing 16 dollars as the minimum weekly wage for women.—A. and N.Z.
