EXHIBITION SCHOLARSHIP
AWARDED TO NEW ZEALANDER. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, JuTj* 11. (Received July 12, at 5.5 p.m.) The Royal Commissioners of the 1861 Exhibition have awarded an overseas scholarship in geology to R. S. G. Allen, of New Zealand. —A. and N.Z. Cable. The overseas scholarships were formed with the residue of the finances of the 1851 Exhibition, which was the first held in London, and were instituted as a means of giving overseas students an opportunity of carrying out research, work in London. Mr Allen is a student of the Otago School of Mines.
