(Pen United Press Association.! HAMILTON, June 4. The attendance at tho winter show yesterday was enormous. ’lhe door takings for the day were £646, or practically double any previous record. GISBORNE, June 4. On the Supremo Court opening this morning tho Law Society extended its felicitations to Sir John Hosking on the birthday honour conferred on him. His Honor briefly replied. Tho court was engaged today hearing applications under the Mortgages Final Extension Act. MASTERTON, Juno 4. Tile Farmers’ • Union conference was opened to-day, Mr A. Ross presiding. In his address Mr Ross referred to the loss sustained by the dominion by tho death of Mr Massey and the satisfaction at the appointment fo the Hon. Mr Coates as Prime Minister. A resolution of sympathy with Airs Massey was passed, and it was decided to pla*e on record the great services that Air Massey rendered to fTio dominion. CHRISTCHURCH, June 4. At a meeting of creditors of Kaye and Carter (Ltd.) to-day, after a long discussion and a vote being taken, it was resolved that tho company be wound up voluntarily. TIMABU, June 4. At the Alagistrate’s Court Robert Henry Strong and his assistant, Ada Blair, were charged with conducting a common gaming house. Strong was convicted and fined £25 and costs, in default two months’ imprisonment. Blair was convicted and discharged.
