FRANCO-GERMAN TRADE

"PLEASANT PROSPECTS." BERLIN BANKER'S VIEWS. LONDON, September 10. Dr Schacht, president of the Reichsbank in Berlin, does not believe that the Franco-German trade pact will hurt England. When asked his opinion of the pact, Dr Schacht, says The Times correspondent at Paris, declared that the establishment of normal economic relations between the two countries was indispensable for the growth "of a real peace sentiment. "The union of French iron and German coal," he said, "opens out specially pleasant prospects." When asked how the Franco-German trade agreement seemed to him to be reconcilable with the interests of Britain, Dr Schacht replied that it was possible to reconcile the interests of all three countries. He did not accept the theory that England would be hurt by such an agreement.
