The majority of the New Zealand players (who played brilliantly in the previous tests in the north) are making tneir first appearance in Dunedin, Cook, Anderson, Gwillum, M'DougaJl, and Murray being the only members of the team to have played here before. Tho kick-off will take place at 3 o’clock, and prior to the big event, provided the state of the ground permits, tho final of tho Second Grade knock-out competition between High School Old Boys and Northern, starting at 1.45, should provide an interesting gajpo. The Dunedin Tramway Band will be in attendance from 2.30. Bookings for the match were heavy yesterday, and the plan will close at ll a.m. to-day. To avoid congestion at the gates arrangements have been made for tickets to be on sale at the Otago Sports Depot, S. Jacobs’s, and at Chapman and Haig’s, Rattray street. 'The primary school?’ match, Otago v Wellington, was played at Carisbrook yesterday on a greasy ground and under adverse conditions, rain falling throughout the match. As each team had beaten Oanterbuiy, a fast, even game was expected. Wellington won tho toss, and soon settled down. Greig sent bis forwards away towards Otago’s goal. Their efforts were early rewarded by a fine ground shot from Condon finding the net. Uninteresting play followed, each set of forwards attacking in turn, only to find that tho fullbacks were playing a sure game. With a powerful kick Cope put his side in a good position, but the forwards were too slow. A little later a fine run by Grimsey was stopped by Greig tripping him. Cope placed well to Groves, who put in a fine 'high shot, but Grimes, timing it well, cleared strongly. Otago were now doing most of tho attacking, shots bv Cope and Flynn just going over the bar. Addison. Otago’s centre half, after dribbling well through the defence, put in a strong shot, which struck tho upright, and which Grimes turned round the post, a corner resulting. Rutherford put it over the line. From the goal kick Tilsely secured and boat Mitchell, who was not playing his best. He scored with a fine shot. Half-time sounded shortly afterwards, the scores being: Wellington 2, Gtago nil. Otago opened strongly on tho right, Groves and Montgomery combining well Groves shot hard and true, but found Grimes, in goal, very safe. A little later Groves put in a fine cross, and a splendid chance was lost by Hadfield not being up in time. Addison 1 sent his right wing away again and forced a corner, which was well placed by Montgomery, and again Otago’s inside left missed. With a powerful kick Wellington’s left full-back sent Tilsely away, but Addison saved in time, and passed out to Groves.. After dribbling through ho finished with a fins shot, which Grimes cleverly deflected over the crossbar. Montgomery failed with the corner. From the goal kick Addison secured and made for goal, and from a scramble ho found the net. Woffington 2, Otago 1.. With only 10 minutes to go, Otago made it lively, and again attacked strongly. Thomson cleared well and sent Clementson away. Cope just manged to rob him of the ball. Again Wellington attacked on the left, but Young, who was playing a fine game at full-back, chocked their efforts. Tne game wag now very exciting, with play in Wellington’s half. Shots by Addison and Groves were well cleared by Grimes. A little later Upchurch fouled in the penalty area. Addison scored with a pile driver. At this stage Otago were playing very well and doing most of the attacking. Time was called shortly afterwards. TTio final .results wore;— Otago 2 goals. Wellington 2 goals. For Wellington, Grimes (in goal), Scanlan, and Thomson played very well, and for Otago Flynn, Addison, Cope, Young, and Grovce played well. RESULTS OF MATCHES.
