(Received August 26, at 10 p.m.) The Legislative Council assembled in full force to-day to celebrate the centenary of its inauguration. A congratulatory message from the King was read, and a reply was adopted. HEAT WAVE IN SYDNEY. SYDNEY, August 25. The maximum temperature recorded in Sydney yesterday was 81-ldeg, which is the highest August record for 39 years. CHARGES WITHDRAWN. SYDNEY, August 25. (Received August 25, at 8 p.m.) A. W. Buckley s charges a,gainst Healey and Patterson, were withdrawn, and the dependents were discharged. It was explained that Buckley had issued the warrants in a merely formal way as secretary of the Eailwaymen’s Union. A. W. Buckley, who was suspended from the position of New South Wales secretary by the Federal Executive of the Railway Union on August 12 had warrants issued a few days later for the arrest of Healey, formerly New South Wales Treasurer,' Patterson,' formerly New South Wales acting-secretary, and Connors, a former executive officer, on charges of conspiring to defraud the union of certain sums of money. These men surrendered themselves to the police. Buckley was suspended for talking action without consulting the executive.
