THE ILL-FATED RIPPLE.

A MEMORIAL TABLET. UNVEILED BY PRIME MINISTER. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 25. In the presence of a largo body of seafaring people at the Sailors’ Institute last evening Mr Massey -unveiled a tablet erected in mcmorv- of the officers and men of the Ripple, -which was lost on August 6. This makes the tenth such memorial, the others being for the crews of the Ohau, Hinemoa, Penguin, Ventmoor, Lizzie Bell, Woolahra, Elingamite, Moana, and Omaka. In the course of his remarks, the Prime Minister said it was the duty of the Government to do all possible to make the ships that go out from our ports isafe for those who sail in them.
