Exploding drums of turpentine were hurled hundreds of feet into the air, and fell on the neighbouring houses. The escaping streams of oil and varnish penetrated everywhere, enveloping the places in flames. Twenty-five fire engines fought the out-, break. A falling wall fatally injured two' firemen.
