WASHED OFF THE ROCKS.
GREEN ISLAND RESIDENT DROWNED. \ At about 5 p.in. yesterday Constable Hamilton, of Green Island, received word that a man named David Strang, aged 4t, married, with four children, and occupied as a bootmaker at Green Island, had boon drowned at a snot about four miles from Green Island. It appears that about midday the deceased, accompanied by a man named Edie, left to go fishing at some rocks a few miles from Green Island, and whilst endeavouring to recover a lost line, he was washed into the sea. Edie hung on to the roek and saw Strang struggling in the water The deceased then disappeared. Edie scrambled ashore, and made haste to inform the police. Constable Hamilton organised a search party, and proceeded to the scene of the mishap, but owing to- the high tide the search was fruitless.
