For the past fortnight a largo section of tho feminine copulation of Wellington has boon eagerly discussing recent proceedings in connection with one of the women’s clubs. It is stated that the committee of the club wished to gel. rid of one of its prominent members, and with that object in view a meeting of the club was convened by circular. At this meeting strong differences of opinion were ventilated, and it is now understood that the question at issue will be further ventilated in court. At all events a prominent legal firm has been consulted and a writ claiming £IOOO for alleged libel in « circular issued to members is likely to bo issued. If the case clow come before tho court it promises to be unusually interesting whatever (ho result may bo. Quito a number of tho most prominent women in Wellington are members of the club.
