Napier, aged 19 years. On March 11, 192S> at 7 p.m., White rescued a, farm labourer who,had taken refuge in a tree in the river bed during a flood Other attempts to effect a rescue by means of a raft had failed, but Whits achieved the object by swimming his horse through the swift water* and debris, displaying nerve and gqod judgment BRONZE MEDALS. , Ronald T. B. Eade, draper’s assistant*. Feilding, aged 17 years. On January 22, 1924, Eade rescued a married woman from drowning in the Ran gi tike i River. Ho jumped from a bridge' into deep water. The woman was unconscious when removed from tho river, but with the assistance of another Eudo employed methods of resuscitation*, and after 20 minutes’ work the patient recovered. j 1 Douglas M'Lcan Whitson, engineer, Dunedin. 39 years of age. On February 24,> 1924, at 6.30 p.m., at Brighton, Otago, Whitson went into the surf to rescue .a man who had been carried out from the beach by a strong backwash. Whitson had to swim 50 yards, and after a struggle lasting 15 minutes he brought the man to - the shore. ii FRAMED CERTEFTOATES. Framed certificates were awarded. as fellows :- ' ' ' J David ,H.
