PREVALENCE OF DIPHTHERIA. The following is a summary cf the notification of infectious diseases for June received from the Director-General of Health, Wellington ;• — Scarlet Fever.— Otago, 6; South Otago, 4; Southland, 5; —total, 15. Diphtheria.—Otago, 40; Southland, 3; Wallace, 1 j—total, 44. Pulmonary Tuberculosis.—Waitaki, 2; Otago, 7 ; Southland, 5; —total, 12. Acute Primary Pneumonia. —Waitaki, I; Otago, 9; Southland, 2;—total, 12. Erysipelas.—Otago, 1; South Otago, 1; — total 2. Enteric Fever. —Waitaki, 1; Southland, 1; —total, 2. Hydatjds.—Southland, 1; —total, 1. Grand total, 86. It can be seen from the figures that diphtheria was the most prevalent disease during the month, and that Otago, with 40 cases, suffered most. Scarlet fever was second on the li.-t. but the remaining notifications were not large.
