JEWELLER’S SHOP RAIDED,
DARING LONDON CRIME. One of the most daring and extensive robberies carried out in the West End of London took place during one night a few weeks ago. Drilling a hole through the floor of an office overhead, thieves entered the premises of Messrs 11. L. Brown and Co., jewellers, in Regent street, and cleared a number of show-cases of 150 lings. 100 bangles, 50 gold pendants, ICO gold brooches, 50 bracelets, 25 diamond and black silk arm bands. 60 pairs of sleeve links. 20 gold albcrts, and 12 silver oxidised watches. The value of the stolon property i s estimated at about £ISOO, and a reward of £l5O yvas announced for the first information IS&dmg to the Recovery of the jewellery. 'lt was when the acting manager went to open the shop about 9 o’clock in the morning that the robbery was discovered. Immediately above the counter was a hole in the ceiling about 18in long and 12in wide. It is so small that the police believe a boy was lowered by the thieves, and that he passed the booty up to his confederates. .Apparently, the burglars hid themselves in the unoccupied top floor of the building.
