(Received Jan. 14, at 5.5 p.m.) Newman, Inman, Smith, and Falkiner, the "Big Four" in the billiards world, have been playing in London this week. The first meeting this season, between Newman and Inman, of 16,000 up, is evoking interest in view of the probability of their meeting in the championship. Inman had the beat of the luck. He also played better billiards, and led throughout. Nevertheless, Newman's score of 5097, in which the balls often ran badly, include 16 breaks of over 109, aggregating 3209, of which the best were 469, 447, and 257. Inman’s score of 6151 included 29 breaks of over ICO, aggregating 3332, of which the best were 396, 251, and 233. There was much safety play in the match between Smith and Falkiner of 16,000, making some of the sessions somewhat dull.
