ROSINA BUCKMAN SEASON
After a very successful season in Australia, the dominion's queen of song, Miss Rosina Buckman, and her talented husband. Mr Maurice D’Oisly, have returned to give n number of farewell concerts in New Zealand prior to their departure for England. Tho Dunedin season will be limited to throe concerts, the dates being Saturday, January 20, Monday, January 22, and Wednesday. January 24. Throughout Australia Miss Buckman received everywhere the most flattering receptions. Tho tour of the dominion will occuply about two months, after which the famous singers return to Europe, where Miss Buckman has several engagements to fulfil, including a season of grand opera at the world's greatest opera house, La Scalo, in Milan. It is reported (hat the famous singers have never been heard in better voice Ilian at the Wellington concert On New Year’s Day. A feature of (he concerts will bo tho duets from standard operas, sung in Phiglish by Miss Buckman and Mr D’Oisly. At Saturday’s concert they will sing the great “Garden Scene” duet from the third act of the celebrated Russian opera “Boris Goudonoff,” by Modeste Moussorgsky. This duet is one of the most difficult, in the whole range of opera, but: a? interpreted by these superb artists ;s said to be a. masterpiece of dramatic vocalisation. Music lovers will welcome (he reappearance of Miss Adelina Leon, whose violoncello playing gave so much pleasure at the previous concerts. Mr Percy Kahn will again provide the accompaniments. The box plan for the season will he opened at The Bristol Piano Company on Wednesday morning.
