The council agreed to carry out improvements at Miller Park on condition that the football club assisted with with labour and a contribution towards the cost of the work. It was also decided to approach schools, lodges, churches, and other bodies in connection with the celebration of Arbor Day on May 27. The Works Committee recommended that Mr B. B. Couston’s request for the approval of plans for subdivision of allotments 7 and 12 and part allotment 8, Block 11, Burnside, ho granted; that _Mr D. S. fioodger’s request for permission to run a drain under the path at Concord be granted subject to the usual conditions; that Cr Reeve and the Town Clerk interview the District Engineer regarding his complaint of sewage on the railway tract at Abbotsford; that the approaches to Concord School (which were the subject of a complaint from the committee) be repaired as soon as material was available: that 50 yards of gravel and 50 yards of screenings be procured for paths, the committee to inspect and report when material is ready: that the request of Mr J. B. Orr and five other' residents for the replacement of an open ditch by pipes be granted, applicants to supply the pipes and the council to do the work; that Mr Kaler’s request to erect a temporary shed on Main South road he granted subjev-t to immediaie removal on notice from the council; that the Works Committee inspect Xorth Taieri road with power to act; that the questions of lighting raised by Abbotsford deputation be referred to Lighting Committee, and other matters be inspected by Works Committee: that pipes lie put in to water table nt. corner of Frederick street; ihat Messrs M'Donald and Phillips's tender for carting be accepted.—Adopted. In the absence of Cr Eason, Or Christie moved his amendment to fix the lighting rate at 4Jd in the pound.
