, CHRISTCHURCH, April 129. At tho annual meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association Mr Goodman was elected president and Mr Quartermain secretary. It w.ie resolved that it_ be an instruction to the incoming committee to arrange a conference of referees at Wellington with the object of forming a bow Zealand Referees’ Association. The policy of arranging for island tournaments on the lines of that conducted at Timnni last season was discussed, and it was decided to recommend the incoming executive to grant Otago’s application for a tournament this year. It was stated that the New South Wales Association was prepared to send a team to tour the dominion, provided that the expenses of the team were ijaid. The chairman stated that a strong effort would be made to secure the team’s visit. ■

Prior to the meeting a special meeting of delegatee was held to consider a notice of motion by tho Wellington Association providing for e ballot to bo taken by mail direct by affiliated associations in the event of a change of being desired. As the motion conflicted -with the existing rules, the chairman held that it was out' of order, but the meeting agreed to hear the views of the Wellington delegate, who said that the motion was reallya step towards changing the headquarters of the association. Hookey was much stronger in the North Island, therefore the headquarters should be there. It was decided that the matter lie left over to be dealt with by Wellington. A motion by Wellington to alter the proportion of votes necessary to change any rule from two-thirds to three-fifths was lost on a ballot.
