FIRE AT ELTHAM

VULCANISING DEPOT IN FLAMES. (Pit Uwrrxs Pbbss Association.) ELTHAM, March 22. A fire occurred last night in a two-storey building owned by Mr G. W. Taylor and occupied by Mr G. Dempsey, of the vulcanising depot. The origin of the fire is unknown. Inflammable materials in the vulcanising depot burnt very rapidly, but smart work by the brigade prevented total destruction of the building. Insurances: £4OO cn the building in the Royal Company. Mr Dempsey s policy of £BOO in the Taranaki Farmers’ Mutual expired on Monday last. Furniture, properties, etc., Assured against fire by H. W. Trotman, chief agent Queensland insurance Co..
