RECEPTION TO ADMIRAL AND OFFICER& (Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 31. A most enthusiastic civil reception was given to Rear-Admiral Dumaresq, . FlagCaptain Feakes, and officers of H.M.A.S. Melbourne. The Mayor (Mr R. A. Wright) presided, Messrs Massey and Wilford were present. The Prime Minister extended a welcome on behalf of the Government and people of Now Zealand. In his reply Rear-Admiral Dumaresq said it would bo well to remember that navies were necessary. The old saying that trade followed the flag was true. There was an inseparable link between them. The Admiral made a strong plea for closer co-operation between New Zealand and Australia, and hoped there would be an interchange of visits between the navy units. Co-operation between Australia and Now Zealand would benefit both.
