EMPIRE THEATRE

“Paying the Piper,” a lavishly produced Paramount story of Broadway’s lights, describes the regeneration of a young woman in the crucible of adversity. Dorothy Dickson, a famous dancer of the American stage, plays the leading role, and there are many beautifully designed settings by the French artist, Paul Inbe. A second attraction is Dorothy Dish in “The Ghost in the Garret.’’ This is conceded to be the funniest corned v drama seen for many months. It will conclude a week’s screening this evening. The Empire orchestra has a particularly fine programme of incidental music, the overture being Donizetti’s “Lucrezia Borgia.”
