Saturday’s fixtures will be postponed unless the position improves meantime. The forthcoming Victoria Amateur Race Club’s February meeting may have to bo postponed.
IRON ORE MINES CLOSED
TWO THOUSAND MEN IDLE,
LONDON, January 20. (Received Jan. 31, at 9.10 p.m.) The Hodbarrow iron ore mines at Millom, the largest in the world, have closed down, rendering idle 2000 workers. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
