OCTAGON AND KING EDWARD THEATRES.

The customary week-end change of programme was made at the Octagon and King Edward Theatres on Saturday, good business resulting. The Triangle production "An Heiress for a Day" is the feature in the new programme, and in it Miss Olive Thomas—an accomplished picture artist—scores a big success. She takes the part o£ a manicurist, Helen Thurston by name, who; carrying on business at a fashionable hotel, cornea in contact with a wealthy young man named Standring. Helen_ in love with Standring, and the disparity in their positions makes her lament that she, too, is not rich. Standring is also attracted by Helen, who quite unexpectedly inherits a, fortune. The accession of wealth does not improve Helen, who forsakes her simple, natural winning ways, imagining that by assuming the style of Standring's social equals she will gain favour. This has just the contrary effect, Standring's feelings towards her changing from like_to dislike. It is very soon discovered that a mistake has been made 'over ijie legacy,-And Helen is her original condition. This brings to her door many clamorous creditors, much concerned about the money she owes them, and it is here that the comedy element is met with in great profusion. Helen makes sure she has lost Standring, but in that she is mistaken. He loves her better poor than rich, and the engagement of the pair is announced. A second turn in tho wheel of fortune discloses the fact that Helen is an heiress after all, but, profiting by her earlier experience, she assumes nothing that is not natural to her. The acting all round is exceedingly good, and the play is well presented. The supporting pictures axe a very fine Pathe soeneo (" The Abbeys of England"), a Triangle drama (" The Dishonest Burglar-"), and one of the latest Pathe Topical Gazettes.
