CONCERT AT HIGHCLIFF.

In the Pukehiki Hall on Friday evening im orchestral concert nvas held in aid jif the local orchestra and Higholiff School Band. Tho orchestaral season has been a. most pleasant one, but an early closing has been necessitated by the loss of several most valued performers through the war. The orchestra, under Mr D. A. J. Rutherford, numbered 26, including several members of the Dunedin Orphans' dub, rendered valu-. able assistance. At the commencement of the programme Mr Rutherford read the following list of those from the district who had made the supreme sacrifice, and the gathering stood in silence: H. Fairbairn, B. F. Robertson, J. Rodgers, H. Robertson, S J. Davis, W. Weir, -J. Bishop, R Allen, Sanderson, 'and W. Stuart. Thc_ following musical programme was submitted and greatly enjoyed:—Selections by the orchasfcra and Highcliff School Band; songsMessrs Baoon, R. Harvey, P. J. Robertson; violin solo, Mr J. White; flute solo, Mr A. Dickenson; horn solo, Mr D. Whelan; trombone solo, Mr R. Osten; cornet solo, Mr W. T. Low; recitation, Miss E. Wallace; basa flute solo, Master R. 'M*Kenzie; fife duet, Misses Farquhar and A. Weir; double quartet, Higholiff, School. Messrs R. Vivian and Harvey were responsible for some enjoyable comic items. Mr A. Miller Hope very capably played the accompaniments. '
