A VIOLENT SCENE
DISPUTE BETWEEN COUNCILLORS.

During an interval between a speoial meeting of the Napier Borough Council to appoint a representative on the Tramways Appeal Board and a meeting of the Finance Committee, Cr M'Carfchy (Deputy Mayor) accused Cr Mulvanah of telling lies. Cr Mulvanah hit Cr M'Carthy on the jaw. Cr Mulvanah then fell or was thrown back on to a ohair, and Cr M'Carthy seized him and said "Will I knock him out?" Other councillors intervened, and the committeo meeting was adjourned by the Mayor.
