"HERVE RIEL"
This is a poem bv Robert Browning and is set to music for baritone solo, chorus, and orchestra by Dr H. Walford Davies. The poem is founded on an incident when the British and the French were at war in 1692. Tho part of Herve Kiel will be sung by Mr Desmoulins, who will do justice to the declamatory stylo required when the Choral Society will give tho work, with other items, at their concert in His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday, June 8. It will be the first time the work has been given here—very probably for the first time in New Zealand.
