TAIERI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The following is the engineer's report for the month: — North and East Taieri.—The surfacemen havo worked at Mosgiel quarry, and have also attended to Kecizlie's road, Long Ridge road, Gladfield and Gladstone roads. The footbridge at Jolly's Creek has been shifted to Cameron's Creek, tho residents assisting with the work. Kaikorai and Otolda.—The metalling of the Kaikorai Valley road has been completed and the Church Hill road repaired. Tho gorse has boon cleared from the Green Island to Brighton road, and the surfacing and widening of this road carried out with tho grader teams. The Allanton men are attending the clay roads on tho Taieri side of the riding. Outram and Maungatua.—Tho repairs to tho Lagoon Bridge at Berwick havo been effected, and the surfacemen havo returned to their own beats. Tho unmetalled portion of Dan Miller's road has been graded and the low portions raised, and tho whole road got ready for metalling. The total output of Mosgiel quarry is now being railed to Allanton, and arrangements have been made for metalling M'Leod's road, Hackett's road, and Miller s road in that order. With regard to the Creamery road, I have written Mr Isaac Reid tor consent to cart through his property tlie gravel stacked at the Contour C'liannel, and if this consent is given will proceed with the work at once, ihe riding funds will not at present permit tho gravelling of this road irom tne laieri River. Deep Stream and Strath-Taieri.—The Deep Stream men have fimslicd the grading of the Clark's to Butler's road, and have also effected the repairs to tho washouts at Roclclands and attended to tho fords on the Claim road. At Strath-Taieri the Sutton gravelling has been completed. The grader teams have re-formed tlie road from Carlson's house to tho Cottesbrook Bridge, and tho bridge carpenters, with the assistance of tho two residents and two of the Outram surfacemen, havo constructed the concrete abutments of Cemetery Bridge, Doughboy Bridge, and water-opening at tho Centro road railway crossing. A start has also been made with the concrete work of Kirkland's Bridge. All tlie timber for these bridges is at Middlomarch, but the concrete work is being undertaken first before tho frost becomes severe.
