John Ambulance s Association wrote, pointing out the good 1 work that was being done in connection i with tho district musing in connection with' tlie ]XJor and sick and accident transport work, and iislced tlie interest and support of I the society.—it was resolved that the society j offer its warm appreciation of, and sympathy 1 with tho association, but regretted that, to niako monetary contributions was beyond its functions. Tho Secretary of the Council of Agriculture wrote regarding the agricultural conference, which would probably be held in Wellington about July 17 and IS, and asked for remits from tho society and any suggestions towards making the conference a success.—Tho question of remits was left ia the hands of the president, vice-president, and Mr Geo. Black. On tho motion of Mr J. W. Blair, seconded by Mr G. H. MacEvvan, Mr W. Gardiner, jun., was nominated for the position of vice-president, as Mr 11. M. -Driver, who had been nominated at last meeting, had found it inconvenient to accept nomination this year. On tlie motion of Mr R. A. Ewing, seconded by Mr H. C. Campbell, Mr E. F. Duthie was nominated as hon. treasurer, confirmation of the position to take placc at the annual meeting, to bo held during Winter Slioiy week. A notico of motion to amend the rules in connection with the country representation on tho committee was confirmed, the resolution to be placed before the annual meeting. The director of King Edward Technical College wrote asking that a deputation from hi> board be received in connection with tho following resolutions(l) "That tho managers of tho King Edward Technical College draw the attention of tho Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association to th.} steps which aro being taken to establish sound teaching of agriculture in connection with the Technical High School." (2) "That tho association be asked to assist the efforts of tho board both financially and by stirring up interest among the members of the association."—The letter was referred to tlie new committee, the deputation to be received at next meeting. Ihe Secretary of the Wairarapa Pastoral and Agricultural Society wrote conveying a copy of a resolution which had been carried uifiinimously at its annual meeting, held recently"That in the interests of the dairy industry of the dominion, the Government bo urged to prohibit the export of white pine timber from New Zealand; and also that the Government be urged to at once plant trees of a suitable character for tho making of cheese cases and butter boxes."—lt was resolved heartily to support the efforts being put forward by the northern association in the direction indicated.
