PERFUMED GASES USED

(Received May 21, at 0.50 a-ro.) The United Prese correspondent states that the Germans are perfuming variom gases, endeavouring to conceal their dead lin 633. There are 'various new gases, witl smells resembling apples, bananas, pine apples, and oranges. Formerly the distinctive odours were readily distinguishable by gas expert®, who have now warned Americans to beware of fruit smells.
GERMAN RAIDERS REPELLED. ' NEW YORK, May 19. (Received May 21, at 0.50 a.m.) General Pershing's communique states that Gorman raiders "were repulsed on the Picardy and Lorraine fronte. Three more enemy aeroplanes -were brought down.
BRITISH LINE ADVANCED. Reuter's Telegrams. LONDON, May 20. (Received May 21. at 1 a.m.) Reuter's correspondent at the British Headquarters says : Our line has been advanced over useful ground in the direction of Deraacourt. Considerable losses were inflicted on the Germans, and 200 prisoners were taken.
