ST. KILDA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Tho meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council was attended by the Mayor (Mr C. N. Scurr), and Crs Dove, Campbell, ltitchie, Densejn, Allen, Smeaton, 'ielfer, Edgar, and Kilpatrick. ITie town clerk, Dunedin, wrote intimating that the City Tramway Committee declined to gTant an increase in the St. Kilda tram service between 7.30 a.m. and .8 a.m. —Tho Mayor undertook to make further inquiries on the matter and to report to the council at tho next meeting. The Public Trustee forwarded a statement relative to tho council's sinking fund accounts for the year ended March 31 last. —Received. A lettor from the Women's Patriotic Association asked tho council's patronage to their forthcoming bazaar.—Granted," the association to have the free use of tho hall. Mr B. B. Couston (borough engineer) reported tho completion of the kerbing and channelling in Forbury road, and recommended that the water trough at St. Clair bo shifted and tho path be asphalted. A start had been made with kerbing and channelling facing two blocks in Outten street.—lt was decided to ask the City Council to remove the water trough in Forbury road and that tho east side of ;i.yenue be asphalted.—Adopted. £iie inspector reported on improvements in New street. He, was instructed to have New and Gray streets repaired with ashes, at a cost not exceeding £15. Also to topdress with ashes and roll the footpath in Bnv View road. —Adopted. The Finance Committee reported as follows :—District fund account (debit), £4501 7s 9d; special loan account (credit), £1059 3s 8d; drainage and sewerage account (ersdit), £161 14s 6d. Accounts amormting to £224- 17s 8d were passed for payment. Cr Edgar moved—" That the work of tho council previously dono in committee bo taken in open council, and that the meetings bs held fortnightly.."—Cr Allen seconded tho motion, which was briefly discussed and carried. The nort mooting was fixed: for Tuesday, Jonb 4.
