ST. HILDA METHODIST CHURCH.

-o The fifteenth anniversary of tho St. Kilda Methodist Church was celebrated yesterday evening in the Sunday School Hall by a tea and later a pubLic meeting. The Rev. R. Raine presided over the latter in the absence of the Rev. A. Hopper, who could not attend owing to ill-health. Tho annual report, which was read by Mr vV. IT. Kempton, stated that the year had been a very strenuous, one, and referred in regretful terms to the decease of Mr A. Beck. The church had lost the services of Mr Drake, who had been called away to the front at very short notice. The Rev. Mr Hopper had put in a year's hard work, and had been ably assisted by Mr Rosoveare. The trustees thanked members and friends,- and especially the Ladies' Guild, which had raised £110. The Sunday School was doing good work, Mr J. H. Brown having accepted the position of secretary. Tho Junior Christian Endeavour, with 100 on tho roll, was aJso doing good work under Miss Taylor. The choir, under the direction _ of Mr Kirk, was very helpful in tho services, and its efforts were fully appreciated. Having read the report, Mr Kempton presented Mr Ausfcing with a purse of sovereigns in recognition of his services as organist, Mr Austing suitably acknowledging the gift. The evening was principally devoted to musio, the performers being Messrs Lawn, Shadbolt, Trebilcock, Colo Kirk (choirmaster), Mrs Lawn, Misses Gilmour, Philpot, Kirk, K. Kernetian, and Baird. The choir contributed several items, ajid recitations were given by Mr Wesley Bratt.
