KAIKORAI ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY.

The Kaikorai Orchestral Society began its career some years ago It was started by a few musio lovers in the hill districts, and' most of the subscribers were residents of Roslyn and Kaikorai. Two concerts a year were given by the society, usually in St. John's Hall, and were appreciated by all who attended them. About four years ago the -society decided to discontinue its practices owing to the difficulty in getting players, many of whom at that time were leaving the district, and in 6ome cases joining the larger orchestral societies. As the society had funds in hand, it was decided by the committee to put them m the bank until such time as they might bo devoted to some worthy cause. The committee thought the appointed time had arrived for the disposal of the funds, and called a meeting, which was held in Roslyn Fire Brigade Hall on Thursday night. The cash balance, together with the sale of in struments, etc., amounted to over £70. It was unanimously decided to donate £50 to the Roslyn branch of the Otago Patriotic and Welfare Association, and the balance (£2O odd) to the Anza-c Soldiers' Club, in Moray place.
