AUCKLAND, Julv 25,
A solicitor named Percy Spencer was charged at the Police Court today with acting-,as a IshaTebroker without being licensed. Spencer was stated to have 6old a, parcel of shares for a client, who received £77 10s instead of the full pries, £80, Spencer retaining the balance. For the defence it was argued,that Spencer acted as a solicitor, and was entitled to remuneration whether the shares had been sold or not. After argument, the Magistrate said that Spencer had acted as a sharebroker, and would have to be convicted. A fine of £5 was imposed. NEW PLYMOUTH, July 25. The golden wedding was celebrated today of Colonel and Mrs W. B Messenger. It' was the occasion of a remarkable gathering, including the two bridesmaids and the best man, seven sons and three daughters, One daughter and one son were absent.
