ODDFELLOWSHIP.

Tho Owaka Lodge, 1.0.0.F.. held a public installation of officers in the Owaka Hall on Friday evening, when G'.T. Bro. J, 11. Hinton and D.D.G.M. Bro. Rcseveare, of Dunedin, were present to conduct tho installation on behalf of tho Grand Lodge of New Zealand. Bro. Hinton as special D.D.G.M., and Bro Roscveare as D.D.G.M. conducted the ceremony. Tho other officers necessary were chosen from officers of Owaka Lodge, as follows:—P.G. M'Donald, Acting Grand Warden; Bro. J. Kerr, Acting Grand Secretary; Bro. North, Acting Grand Treasurer; Bro. P. Walker, Acting Grand Chaplain. N.G. Bro. Kilgour welcomed the Grand Lodge officers oa behalf of Owaka Lodge, and requested the officers of Owaka Lodge to vacate their offices, Which were then taken by the Grand Lodge officers who proceeded to install the newlyelected officers of Owaka Lodge into their respective positions. The following wero the officers chosen for the next half year:— N.G., Bro. Geo. F. Perkins; V.G., Bro. James Ewart; Rec. Secretary, Bro. David Wratten; Per. Secretary. Bro. Henry' Jones; Treasurer, Bro, William Adam; Warden, Bro. Alex. Adam; Conductor, Bro. J. Kerr; Chaplain, Bro. D. Wratten; R.S.S., Bro. Jas. Roger; L.S.S., Bro. G. Barr; R.S.N.G., Bro. J. Gosden; L.S.N.G., Bro. T. Cook; R.S.Y.G., Bro. H. White j L.S.V.G., Bro. S. Bates; 1.G., Bro. J. Callahan; 0.G., Bro. A. Devoreux. The Owaka choir, under tho able leadership of Mr R. Clapperton, with Mrs Morton at the piano, rendered valuable assistance during tho installation ceremony by singing the anthems and odes of the order. At the close of the ceremony the installing officer gave a short address on Oddfellowship, complimenting Owaka Lodge on its position, and at tho same timo saying that memberb belonged to an order they need not be afraid of asking any friends to join, holding as it did, he said, the premier position in the world as a Friendly Society, and capable of guaranteeing all that it promised to do. Tho N.G. elect proposed a hearty vote of thanks to tho G.L. officers for going to Owaka and installing tho officers. The vote was carried by acclamation, and was responded to by D.D.G.M. Bro. Roscveare. The toast of kindred societies was proposed by P.G. M Donald, and responded to by Bro. A. M. Wylic (Loyal Alexandra Lodge), and Bro. Allan, on ..behalf of Loynl Dulton Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F. "The Choir" was proposed by I'.G Bro. Kilgour, and responded to by -Mr Clapperton (choir master). Tho ceremony concluded by the ehoir singing the doxology. There was a large attendance of the public at the installation ceremony, attracted no doubt bv a lodge holding a open meeting. After the ceremony the annual ball of Owaka Lodge took place. Bros. Kilgour, W. Adam, and M'Donald made very efficient M.C.'s, and Bro. Jones, in charge of the tables, was ably assisted by Mesdamos Ewart, Perkins, Bradfield, Jones, and Miss Callahan. About 70 couples took part in the grand inarch. Miss Pullar (piano). Messrs M'Lolland (piccolo) and Elliot (violin) made a very efficient orchestra. Dancing was kept up until about half-past 3 in the morning.
