COMBINED SCHOOL EXCURSION.
Pupils of tho six country schools and tlair parents and friends to tho total number of about 300 enjoyed a pleasant outing on Saturday last in an excursion in Mr M'Kcgg's launches to Taieri Mouth. The excursion left Waiwora. by s|>ecial train at 7.25 a.m., reaching Henley at 9.35, and the homeward railway journey was begun at 5.25 p.m., ending at Waiwora at 7.35 p.m. Tho schools which took part were Tnumata, Waiwora, Kaihiku, Kakapuaka, To Houka, uJid Stony Crock. The trip down the river ocoupiwl about an hour, and tho mouth w;ts reached a littJo after 11 o'clock. Having reached the jetty,, the ci-ow-d landed and made their way to the place where they were to have their lunch. Mr M'Kegg had arranged for tho boilers, and fchp water was in readiness immediately on arrival. Not only dkl he do this, but lie had also brought down a can of miik. A most enjoyable day was spent on the beach. From all accounts the majority of those who mado the trip this year will he only to.o pleased to repeat it next year, when probably a good many othore may join.
