NAVY LEAGUE.

A meeting of the Executive Committeeof the Navy League (Otago branch) was .held yesterday v afternoon, there being present—Messrs Chisholm (in the chair), V. U. Bridgemau, tloyen, Reynolds, iicclcs, Maoajidrew, _ Woodhouse, Morrcll, and Roberts (aeting hon. secretary). After granting a Navy League map to the Nugget Lighthouse keeper ami to a school, the meeting adopted the report of the subcommittee fixing the lecture of Lieutenant Knox for Monday, 7th December, at tho Garrison Hall. It was decided that, after providing reserved seating accommodation for members of the League, no charge ,be mado for admission of the public, and that every effort he made to enable the community to benefit as widely as possible from the visit of such a noted lecturer. A sub-committcc was appointed fo make arrangements in connection with the visit to D-unodin of the Australasian squadron from December 11 to December 14.

VOLUNTEERS. * — ' Tho Port Chalmers Navals, who went into camp'at Mii6«d Bay-on-Saturday,- paraded on Monday evening- for annual- inspection by Colonel Davics /(Inspector-general (or New Zealand), who, accompanied bj< Colonel Smyth (O.C. Otago District), Colonel Allen (0.0. Otago Division), Captain Chcsney (N.Z.A.), -Captain'-:-Hjckey, and Captain Gard'ncr:. Out of n.totai strength of 82, there were 72 on parade.'' Colonel Davics expressed himself very favourably impressed' with the companyls exhibition of 'RiiMary, range-finding, signalling, and gun-laying. He complimented tho company on; its thorough discipline.^.'^Tlio Port Navals proceed to tho Heads for instructional practice on Salurdajj' and on the following Saturday do-their-service-prac-tice' with the quick-firing guns/ when they hope to add other laurels by> winning the Hudson cup. Tho Port, Chalmers Cadets, under,' Captain Bauchop, also paraded' for'inspection, their' smart and gehWal efficiency ..evoking commendatory remarks from the inspecting officer. ~,
