THE LIQUOR LAW
(Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHUROH, September 4. Tlio appeal of Sergeant Fouhy, of- Ashburton, 1 against the decision of the stipendiary magistrate there in the case against Gideon Scott was upheld by Mr Justice Chapman to-day. Scott was proceeded against for a breach of " The Licensing Act, 1004," under the regulations regarding tile notification toihe police of liquor imported to a. rio-licensc, district. The magistrate dismissed the case without hearing evidence, on the ground that no penalty was fixed for a breach of the clause .in question, and he could therefore do nothing in the matter. His Honor referred..the case back to tho magistrate for a decision on the facts.
