CHARGES OF PERJURY
(Per United Press Association.) NAPIER, September 4. A chargo against Lee Fun oi -manufacturing opium suitable for smoking ivns dismissed at tho court to-day. Lee Fnn was immediately afterwards arrested on a charge of perjury, in that no had sworn ho had not been in prison in Wellington. CURISTCIIURCH, September 4. Sir Justice Chapman, at i-lie Supreme Court io-c'ay, sentenced David Baird to six months' imprisonment for perjury. The case arose • out of evidence men by Baird at the inquest on the illegitimate child of which ho denied patornity, and ho made other false statement-? which at a later adjournment o? the inquest he confessed wore untrue.
