FATALITY AT A SAWMILL.

(Pan United Press Association.). BLENHEIM, September-3. A married man (Frank Lo Froy Lawrcy), who'came to Blenheim a few weeks a,"o from _ Baleafdrd , (Victoria), was killed at Hatty's farm at Springlands yostorday afternoon. An engine and saw wheel had been employed cutting wood, , but bad been stopped, and tho belt ■removed , to reset tlie saw. When going back, to replace the bolt the ongineer and driver saw- who v.'as n casual hand 'employed!to'hand v;ood ro the sn«- feeder, fall to tho ground. He was found to be quite'.dead,-bis head being smashed in. It is suggested that deceased, not being used to machinery,- tried to put the belt on. and that he overbalanced ami struck'his head against the edge of the front travelling wheel. The evidence at tho inquest showed that the engine was perfectly motionless when the necident occurred. There was no positive evidence to account for tho accident. A-.verdict was returned that deceased met his death while putting a bolt on tho driving wheel, but there was Ho evidence to show, that anyone was to blame.
